People’s Association: Harmony Xtravaganza (2019)

Background

As part of the Singapore Bicentennial, the People’s Association of Singapore organised an event to celebrate the cultural diversity of Singapore.

The PA brought together current citizens and new citizens to share their experiences living in Singapore. Through a series of workshops, these participants put together pieces of fabric art works that reflected stories from their hometown and devised a performance for the event, Harmony Xtravaganza.

Ask
To design and conceptualise the branding/visual of the event that would be used across the event’s marketing collateral materials, promoting the event’s performance.
  Solution
The brand identity takes inspiration from the interlacing of threads formed through weaving. Each thread representing the individuals who have travelled to Singapore – each playing an important role in nation-building. The letter “a” in the logo is stylised to symbolise a thread. Colours of the logo was selected based on the design of their costumes.
Outcome
A visual language that ties together the creative process by the performers, the costume design, embodying a modern outlook with colours that were inspired from their costumes.
